Quick answer: Settings → Reminders → Expiry reminders (a Pro feature). You get a notification the morning before any container reaches best-by, and short-window milk (fridge, thawed) gets warned hours ahead. A separate freeze-it nudge flags fridge milk on day 3, while freezing still saves it.
Warnings designed to be actionable
An alert after milk dies is an obituary. Milk First's warnings arrive while the fix still exists: use tonight, or freeze now. Quiet hours are respected, so day-before warnings land at 9 AM, never 3 AM, and each notification names the bag, its location, and its deadline.
